USS Prichett

The USS Prichett (DD-561) was a Fletcher Class destroyer that served the United States Navy from 1944 to 1970. The ship participated in the invasion of Okinawa in 1945 earning a Navy Unit Commendation for destroying 6 Japanese Kamikazi aircraft, and for providing aid to the USS Callaghan when that ship was seriously damaged in battle.

After earning eight battle stars in World War Two, Prichett went on to earn two more battle stars during the Korean War, and served off the coast of Vietnam in the 1960s.

Museum of the Soldier is proud to have been chosen to house the collection of artifacts from the USS Prichett Association.
